State Autonomous Institution "Moscow Zoo" expresses its gratitude to Moscow Cargo team for safe handling of Amur tiger

13/11/2023

Dear colleagues, on behalf of State Autonomous Institution "Moscow Zoo", we would like to express its gratitude for the successful transportation of a male Amur tiger, which was forcibly removed from nature. The Amur tiger is primarily found in the Russian Federation, is listed as endangered in the Red Book of the Russian Federation. It's classified as an endangered species and it is one of the largest cats in the world.

Transporting a wild animal by air is a complex and responsible task that we could only entrust to high-level professionals who have experience and assuring the careful treatment of animals during transportation and handling . The AEROFLOT, PJSC team as well as Moscow Cargo, LLC and Vladivostok Cargo, LLC staff showed high professionalism and teamwork, maintaining a high pace and attention to conditions that reduce the stress of the animal during the process.

The tiger has been safely released to the "Center for the Reproduction of Rare Animal Species", it is a separate structural subdivision of State Autonomous Institution "Moscow Zoo" in the Volokolamsk district of Moscow Region. After undergoing the necessary veterinary rehabilitation measures, it will enter the Amur tiger breeding and conservation program, significantly enriching the genetic diversity of the reserve population.

With deep respect and hope for further cooperation in the implementation of environmental protection activities,

State Autonomous Institution "Moscow Zoo"

Sincerely yours,

Andrey Barakovsky
